Rounding out the Spokane sessions, I really have to say this: all my Spokane clients were extraordinarily well-dressed! I could really tell that each family (read mom) put a lot of thought and effort into the clothing choices for their portraits, and it really shows in the way the families look–cohesive by not 100% matchy-matchy. Lovely job by all.

This family, of course, is no exception. I got to photograph these guys just before we left Spokane two years ago, so it was a real treat to work with them again. Cute kids, great personalities, and a break in the rain made for a fantastic session. Thanks guys!

the golden evening glow, visalia family photography

Evening is my absolute favorite time to photograph people. As the sun sets, there is such a lovely glow to the light that flatters everyone and makes for such pretty images. That said, I was a bit concerned leading up to this session, since evenings this summer have been a bit on the scorcher side. This family, though, was awesome to work with and made my job so easy. Everything from location to light to personalities and styles just clicked to make this one of my favorite extended family portrait sessions to date. Enjoy!

This blog post if long, long overdue. This beautiful family has been waiting ever-so-patiently to see all of these after I previewed only two images on Facebook a few weeks ago. Who knew summer would be so crazy busy???

Mom and Dad met after they both came home to the Central Valley after finishing their Bachelor’s degrees at the same university in another state–crazy coincidence, right? I’ve known her almost as long as I’ve known my husband (she’s his sister) and I’ve actually known him even longer, since we shared a class at that same university years ago. They’re celebrating their eighth wedding anniversary this summer and have four beautiful girls to show for it–who could ask for more?

A and G, I really had a wonderful time working with your family. It was a treat to photograph and play with you that morning. I’ll be in touch with your gallery information very soon.

I’d imagine it gets a little old for all you blog readers out there when I begin each new entry with some variant of “Wow, what a wonderful time I had at this session!” but really, it’s so true! I feel so very blessed to have a job as a children and family portrait photographer, taking pictures of beautiful little (and sometimes big) people, playing with them, making them laugh, and generally having a good time.

These boys were at first a bit wary of me and my photographer’s bag o’ tricks, but the old “whack yourself in the head with a stick” routine loosened them right up. And what a treat it was for me to venture out of my own personal frilly, pink-hued homeworld and play with BOYS.

Check out this little man–isn’t he a doll? That grin already has the girls a flocking, can you imagine when he’s a teen? kid photography of visalia

Mr. Middle Brother was the daredevil of the bunch–check out his flying leap! I’m just glad he didn’t start pelting me with those walnuts he’s got clenched in his hands in the first few shots . . .

I could tell big brother liked to take care of his younger bros–what a great kid! He showed me a thing or two about real exploring.

These last two images are my favorites from the session–taken at the beginning and end of our time together. Really, I could not be more lucky in my outside job.
