Can you hear that newborn cry and smell that sweet fresh baby smell? I can just looking at these images. I can tell this baby boy’s parents and siblings had been counting down the days until this little one joined their family. Sweet and easy as can be, he was a real treat to photograph–he slept like a champ the entire two hours I was at his house! Those lips, that little scrunchy nose, and those adorable elf ears . . . *sigh*. At 10 days old he was the perfect age for his closeup.

Thursday, August 19th, 2010the golden evening glow, visalia family photography
Wednesday, July 28th, 2010Evening is my absolute favorite time to photograph people. As the sun sets, there is such a lovely glow to the light that flatters everyone and makes for such pretty images. That said, I was a bit concerned leading up to this session, since evenings this summer have been a bit on the scorcher side. This family, though, was awesome to work with and made my job so easy. Everything from location to light to personalities and styles just clicked to make this one of my favorite extended family portrait sessions to date. Enjoy!
mr. man, visalia newborn photography
Wednesday, June 23rd, 2010His Momma calls him Munchie. Isn’t the the cutest nickname for a newbie you’ve ever heard? He definitely knew his mommy and knew when she wasn’t the person holding and shushing him to sleep. Munch, munch, munch, that’s all he wanted to do during our newborn portrait session last weekend, and really, who can blame him? Sweet baby boy, it was a treat to photograph you, big brother, and your beautiful momma.

Monday, April 12th, 2010I’d imagine it gets a little old for all you blog readers out there when I begin each new entry with some variant of “Wow, what a wonderful time I had at this session!” but really, it’s so true! I feel so very blessed to have a job as a children and family portrait photographer, taking pictures of beautiful little (and sometimes big) people, playing with them, making them laugh, and generally having a good time.
These boys were at first a bit wary of me and my photographer’s bag o’ tricks, but the old “whack yourself in the head with a stick” routine loosened them right up. And what a treat it was for me to venture out of my own personal frilly, pink-hued homeworld and play with BOYS.
Check out this little man–isn’t he a doll? That grin already has the girls a flocking, can you imagine when he’s a teen?
Mr. Middle Brother was the daredevil of the bunch–check out his flying leap! I’m just glad he didn’t start pelting me with those walnuts he’s got clenched in his hands in the first few shots . . .
I could tell big brother liked to take care of his younger bros–what a great kid! He showed me a thing or two about real exploring.
These last two images are my favorites from the session–taken at the beginning and end of our time together. Really, I could not be more lucky in my outside job.
I’ve got some Mother’s Day Mini Sessions in the works–stay tuned to the Jani Photography Facebook Fanpage for the first chance to schedule your session!
visalia newborn photography, a gorgeous little miracle baby
Thursday, March 18th, 2010This session was really quite the dream newborn session for me. A sweet little baby boy who slept through posing and moving, didn’t have to nurse a single time while I was there, and was basically putty in my hands. Oh, and it helps that he’s just beautiful, too, right? I mean, look at those lips! That cute fuzzy blonde hair! Those perfect little baby cheeks. *sigh* Pure sweetness in this little guy.
I love long little newborn fingers. And those furry cheeks–they kill me!
I have to admit, I seem to get more girl that boy clients, so I have a slight shortage of baby boy props. But I picked up this soda crate last fall for a family session and couldn’t resist trying it out with a newbie. Perfect!
Furry shoulders are another of my favorite newborn things–they only stay this tiny and fresh for such a short time! Love.
And as a photographer, you just can’t go wrong with a classic sleeping baby shot. Who needs props?
To crown off this amazing session, check out this find–I love it when I can use a client’s own items in their newborn photographs. It makes them so much more personal and special. This guy’s mom is lucky I didn’t “accidentally” carry it out to my car with all my things.
The best age to photograph a newborn to capture all these tiny details that are unique to this age is within the first 10-14 days. If you’re expecting and interested in a session, contact me with your due date now so I can get you on my schedule. Then once you’ve had the baby, we’ll find a time that works for both of us in that small window of newness. Call 331-8253 or email me at jan@janiphotography.com.
