Can you hear that newborn cry and smell that sweet fresh baby smell? I can just looking at these images. I can tell this baby boy’s parents and siblings had been counting down the days until this little one joined their family. Sweet and easy as can be, he was a real treat to photograph–he slept like a champ the entire two hours I was at his house! Those lips, that little scrunchy nose, and those adorable elf ears . . . *sigh*. At 10 days old he was the perfect age for his closeup.

His Momma calls him Munchie. Isn’t the the cutest nickname for a newbie you’ve ever heard? He definitely knew his mommy and knew when she wasn’t the person holding and shushing him to sleep. Munch, munch, munch, that’s all he wanted to do during our newborn portrait session last weekend, and really, who can blame him? Sweet baby boy, it was a treat to photograph you, big brother, and your beautiful momma.

This blog post if long, long overdue. This beautiful family has been waiting ever-so-patiently to see all of these after I previewed only two images on Facebook a few weeks ago. Who knew summer would be so crazy busy???

Mom and Dad met after they both came home to the Central Valley after finishing their Bachelor’s degrees at the same university in another state–crazy coincidence, right? I’ve known her almost as long as I’ve known my husband (she’s his sister) and I’ve actually known him even longer, since we shared a class at that same university years ago. They’re celebrating their eighth wedding anniversary this summer and have four beautiful girls to show for it–who could ask for more?

A and G, I really had a wonderful time working with your family. It was a treat to photograph and play with you that morning. I’ll be in touch with your gallery information very soon.

visalia newborn photography, a gorgeous little miracle baby

This session was really quite the dream newborn session for me. A sweet little baby boy who slept through posing and moving, didn’t have to nurse a single time while I was there, and was basically putty in my hands. Oh, and it helps that he’s just beautiful, too, right? I mean, look at those lips! That cute fuzzy blonde hair! Those perfect little baby cheeks. *sigh* Pure sweetness in this little guy.

I love long little newborn fingers. And those furry cheeks–they kill me!

I have to admit, I seem to get more girl that boy clients, so I have a slight shortage of baby boy props. But I picked up this soda crate last fall for a family session and couldn’t resist trying it out with a newbie. Perfect!

Furry shoulders are another of my favorite newborn things–they only stay this tiny and fresh for such a short time! Love.

And as a photographer, you just can’t go wrong with a classic sleeping baby shot. Who needs props?

To crown off this amazing session, check out this find–I love it when I can use a client’s own items in their newborn photographs. It makes them so much more personal and special. This guy’s mom is lucky I didn’t “accidentally” carry it out to my car with all my things.

The best age to photograph a newborn to capture all these tiny details that are unique to this age is within the first 10-14 days. If you’re expecting and interested in a session, contact me with your due date now so I can get you on my schedule. Then once you’ve had the baby, we’ll find a time that works for both of us in that small window of newness. Call 331-8253 or email me at jan@janiphotography.com.
