Evening is my absolute favorite time to photograph people. As the sun sets, there is such a lovely glow to the light that flatters everyone and makes for such pretty images. That said, I was a bit concerned leading up to this session, since evenings this summer have been a bit on the scorcher side. This family, though, was awesome to work with and made my job so easy. Everything from location to light to personalities and styles just clicked to make this one of my favorite extended family portrait sessions to date. Enjoy!

Wednesday, June 23rd, 2010His Momma calls him Munchie. Isn’t the the cutest nickname for a newbie you’ve ever heard? He definitely knew his mommy and knew when she wasn’t the person holding and shushing him to sleep. Munch, munch, munch, that’s all he wanted to do during our newborn portrait session last weekend, and really, who can blame him? Sweet baby boy, it was a treat to photograph you, big brother, and your beautiful momma.

Wednesday, June 16th, 2010This blog post if long, long overdue. This beautiful family has been waiting ever-so-patiently to see all of these after I previewed only two images on Facebook a few weeks ago. Who knew summer would be so crazy busy???
Mom and Dad met after they both came home to the Central Valley after finishing their Bachelor’s degrees at the same university in another state–crazy coincidence, right? I’ve known her almost as long as I’ve known my husband (she’s his sister) and I’ve actually known him even longer, since we shared a class at that same university years ago. They’re celebrating their eighth wedding anniversary this summer and have four beautiful girls to show for it–who could ask for more?
A and G, I really had a wonderful time working with your family. It was a treat to photograph and play with you that morning. I’ll be in touch with your gallery information very soon.
visalia children’s photographs, enjoying the blossoms
Wednesday, March 24th, 2010Most of you readers probably know that I’m fairly new to the Visalia area. Sure, my husband grew up here and I’ve been visiting a few times a year for the past eight years, but I’ve only lived here in town for the last seven months. It’s been a whirlwind time, with just about every “new” thing a family can experience–job, schools, baby, home, friends–and this list can go on. Exploring Visalia and Tulare (and finding the perfect portrait locations!) has been a real delight for me. Especially when I discover a gem like this.
I’m using images from this mini-shoot with my girls to create a beautiful wall gallery in my living room. I can’t wait until I can hang all these beautiful pictures!
Can’t you just feel the joy of spring?
